Music Education–choral/general and instrumental/general (four-year program), BM

The Bachelor of Music in Music Education requires a minimum of 128 credits:

  • Credits in the Core Curriculum count toward the 128 credit minimum.
  • At least 40 credits must be at the 300-level or higher. 
  • Music students must attend 16 performances/events per year; for students who are student teaching, studying abroad, or in full-time internships during the academic year, only 8 performances are required for that year.

Music Education majors must select either Instrumental/General P-12 or Choral/General P-12.

  • First-Year Seminar (6 credits total)
  • Global and Historical Studies (6 credits total)
  • Text and Ideas (3 credits)
  • The Natural World (5 credits)
  • Analytical Reasoning (3 credits)
  • Physical Well Being - may be marching band (1 credit)

Free Electives (5 credits for Instrumental, 3 credits for Choral)


Includes AM 21  and AM 22  if needed.
