BSHS 489 - Spanish/English Medical Interpretation Min Units: 3 Max Units: 3 This course is designed for professionals who will interact with Spanish-speaking clients in healthcare settings and who have previous knowledge and experience using Spanish in such contexts. In this course students will focus on developing English/Spanish and Spanish/English medical translation and consecutive interpretation skills. Students will also learn about the roles of interpreters, interpretation methods, and the ethics of interpretation in clinical and non-clinical environments. Students are encouraged to enroll in BSHS 215 to expand their knowledge of medical terminology. (U) Fall Prerequisite(s): BSHS 482 or RX 482 ; and COPHS student or enrollment in Medical Spanish minor; or permission of the instructor
