BSHS 489 - Spanish/English Medical Interpretation

Min Units: 3

This course is designed for professionals who will interact with Spanish-speaking clients in healthcare settings and who have previous knowledge and experience using Spanish in such contexts. In this course students will focus on developing English/Spanish and Spanish/English medical translation and consecutive interpretation skills. Students will also learn about the roles of interpreters, interpretation methods, and the ethics of interpretation in clinical and non-clinical environments. (U) Spring
Prerequisite(s): BSHS 215  and BSHS 482 ; or RX 482; and COPHS student; or permission of the instructor
