In this course we will consider the problem of evil from both a theoretical and practical perspective, asking questions about the nature and persistence of evil and about our duty to understand the conditions that give rise to the possibility of evil and to name and fight evil wherever we find it. We will do so with the aid of a broad range of sources, including biblical texts and works of philosophy, theology, and literature. (U) Occasionally
