PS 413 - Neuroscience of Drugs Min Units: 3 Max Units: 3 The purpose of this course is to explore the role of behavioral neuroscience in substance abuse, with a focus on recreationally used drugs. Throughout the semester, we will cover a series of classic as well as “cutting edge” topics in behavioral neuropharmacology. This course will provide you with a reasonable overview of the field of psychopharmacology and also strive for a fair amount of depth as we cover the course material. Topics may include the neurochemical action of drugs, the hallmarks and symptoms of addiction, consequences of drug use for individuals and society, and current research on treatment options.
