MS 379 - Contemporary Technologies

This course will examine topics in prescriptive analytics: genetic algorithms, linear systems, and Monte Carlo simulations. Prescriptive analytics is thought of as the third leg in a three-legged stool. The other two legs being descriptive analytics and predictive analytics. The student will be introduced to the R statistical computer language and to AMPL, a language for modeling linear systems. No prior skill with computer programming is needed. Students will need their own laptop, either PC or Mac. (U)
