This course draws on familiar associations but aims to introduce students to the cultural complexity of the Romans through the lens of art and architecture of the Italic and Roman world. Content covers material from the Iron Age Villanovans, Etruscans, and other indigenous Italic peoples through the Imperial Roman period, ending approximately with the reign of Constantine in the 4th c CE.
