The degree requires the completion of 30 credit hours, including a full recital (AM 709 ) which consists of 60 minutes of solo music. A CD recording of the final recital, along with the completed recital grading form and
two copies of the printed program, must be submitted to the Associate Director of Graduate Studies following completion of the recital. The CD and programs will be placed in the collection of the University library. This must be completed before the degree will be conferred.
A final comprehensive oral examination (AM 799 ) covering the entire program of study is required at the end of the program (after the successful recital).
The Graduate Music Diagnostic Exams in music theory, music history, and diction (vocal performance only) are required for placement purposes. Depending on the results of these exams, students may be required to
take review coursework (MH 508 , MT 508 , ML 508 and/or other remedial coursework). These review classes count as General Music Electives only.
