BSHS 460 - Evidence Based Healthcare

This course will provide students with fundamental skills related to the appropriate identification, retrieval, evaluation, and application of medical literature and promote the practice of Evidence Based Healthcare.BSHS 450  

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• Utilize medical information databases using Butler University Library and the National Library of Medicine
• Distinguish between high quality and lower quality medical information
• Identify sources of bias, conflicts of interest, and other forms of influence on healthcare policy and
delivery and be able to effectively “counter” incomplete, inaccurate, or biased information
• Critically evaluate medical and healthcare literature and apply those data to given scenarios
• Incorporate clinical and economic data into a comprehensive healthcare decision making process (U) Fall and spring (U) Fall and spring
Prerequisite(s): BSHS 110 , junior standing and BSHS student, and MA 162  ,MS 264  , orBSHS 450  ; or permission of the instructor.
