The Kinesiology program in the College of Education is committed to preparing graduates for professional graduate programs and careers in sport, fitness, health, or wellness. We believe our program should be transformative where graduates are empowered to make a difference for individuals, their local communities, and at the national level. The Kinesiology program includes rigorous core coursework in Anatomy, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Motor Skill Learning and Sport Psychology. The program culminates in a semester long internship at a site that is aligned with students’ career goals. Students are able to add the coaching minor with only an additional two courses beyond the Kinesiology core, and have plenty of elective space to prepare for graduate program requirements or explore their interests in other areas.

Kinesiology Student Learning Outcomes

In addition to the COE College-level outcomes, students will:

  • demonstrate knowledge and the ability to apply kinesiology concepts in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs related to health, physical activity, sport, rehabilitation, and wellness.

  • demonstrate and apply scientific literacy skills by synthesizing, analyzing, and critically evaluating kinesiology-related academic research and data.

  • demonstrate an applied understanding of human movement and the ability to assess, design, and implement physical activity interventions across various kinesiology-related fields.

  • model ethical decision-making, professionalism, and leadership within kinesiology disciplines, actively contributing to the advancement of the field.
