The MS in Mental Health Counseling offers hands-on training and prepares you to pursue licensure in mental health counseling. Experienced faculty present a rigorous curriculum that is aligned with national and state standards.
You’ll complete a 100-hour practicum and a 600-hour internship at a facility that is convenient to you. Our coursework directly prepares you for licensure in Indiana and most other states. Please see our website for more information about current licensure restrictions.
Most courses are asynchronous with no scheduled class meetings, although active engagement and approximately nine hours of outside work are expected each week for each three-credit course, and live class meetings are a requirement during Practicum and Internship.

GPA & Grade Requirements
Students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher AND a grade of C or higher in each required course to receive a degree or certificate. Courses in which a student earns a grade lower than C (e.g., C-, D, F) will not count toward degree or certificate requirements, but will be factored into a student’s cumulative GPA. Students may retake courses to meet the requirements above, but in no case will a student be allowed to take more than 12 credit hours in excess of the degree or certificate requirements to do so. Any graduate student who fails to make satisfactory progress in coursework requirements may be declared academically ineligible for additional enrollment. |
