Jazz Studies Minor

The Jazz Studies Minor requires the completion of 22 credits.

A grade of C or higher is required for all JCA courses.
The Jazz Studies Minor has the following arts event attendance requirement: the student must attend a minimum of 16 events during their matriculation at Butler, regardless of the number of semesters of enrollment as an official Jazz Studies Minor. Of these events, 8 must be in music, 2 in dance, 2 in theatre, 2 in art or arts-related lecture events, and 2 of the student’s choice. Records are maintained online.
Students fulfill the Perspectives of the Creative Arts requirement of the University Core Curriculum when they have completed 9 credit hours of arts courses (e.g., music, dance, theatre, visual arts).
A placement test is required prior to enrollment in MT 101. Contact the School of Music office for further information (music@butler.edu).
