Geography and Urban Planning Minor

The Geography and Urban Planning Minor consists of at least 18 hours (at least 9 at the upper-level) from the following course categories.

Requirements for the Geography Minor
Choose three of the following courses focused on urban and cultural geography, urban planning and design, and architectural history and preservation (9): Environmental Geography and Ecology
Choose one of the following courses focused on topics in environmental geography and ecology (3-5): Electives
Choose from the following elective courses to fulfill the 18-hour minimum requirement for the minor, including at least 9 total credits at the upper level. - ENV 330 - Geographic Information Systems Min Units: 4
- HST 305/AN 380/PCA 268 Urban Studies Lab (3)
- Any additional upper-level (300-400) courses from above categories.
Any upper-level (300-400) course on the developing world or Global South with minor advisor’s approval, including:
- HST 305 (Topics): Gender and Sexuality in African History (3)
- SO 335 or IS 410: The Global Society (3)
- PO 354: Environmental Justice (3)
- Any non-Western HST course with an area/regional focus approved by the minor advisor.
- Any related study-abroad program course(s) up to four (4) hours approved by the minor advisor.
- Independent Study or Directed Undergraduate Research course up to four (4) hours approved by the minor advisor.
