ART 321 - Art of Asia

This course will thematically and chronologically explore the art and architecture of a multitude of cultures and countries in East, Southeast, and South Asia. It will introduce students to vocabulary and concepts specific to the religions, politics, economics, and cultures of this region to deepen their understanding of the contexts from which they came. Through lectures, discussions, written responses, and research, students will also analyze the relationship between their own visual culture and those studied in class, allowing them to gain a more nuanced understanding of the relationship between visual culture and individual or shared values. Prerequisite(s): ART 105  or ART 205  or PCA 200-ART  or PCA 202-ART , or junior standing, or permission of the instructor.
