Our mission as an institution for higher education is not only to prepare students for success in the workplace, but also prepare them to live in society, where they are active citizens and engaged community members. The Butler Indianapolis Community Requirement (ICR) helps students find those answers while also contributing to our mission to contribute to the public good. This one credit hour course is designed to assist students in understanding their roles as citizens and community members by having them complete a minimum of 20 hours in the community, read academic articles and reflect on their experiences, applying it to their own context as members of society outside of their majors.
